Capturing beautiful, natural, intimate moments to last a life time.
Southern Light Photography is Sydney’s leading natural wedding photography studio. We have over 9 years of experience making you feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, and making you look as beautiful as you feel on your big day.
On your wedding day, two photographers unobtrusively capture the emotions and little moments that make your day special. We use our experience photographing weddings from all cultural backgrounds to ensure we never miss a moment or important ritual, using a mix of natural and studio lighting to create unique images that stand out.
Our wedding photography coverage starts when you’re getting ready, all the way until dancing at your reception, and includes two photographers. There are no fixed hours – we are there to tell your whole story.
Unlike larger photography studios who assign a photographer for your wedding (whom you will typically only meet on your actual wedding day), Jay will be the lead photographer at your wedding. We have a small team of highly trained and experienced photographers who will capture groom preparations and secondary photos throughout the day.
We offer flexible wedding photography pricing options to suit your requirements, from $4500 including edited digital images and a private online gallery to share with guests.

Eliminate camera nerves with a pre-wedding shoot.
A pre-wedding shoot is a photo shoot with you and your partner, at a location of your choice. Your pre-wedding photo shoot typically goes for 1.5-2 hours and is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera.
Many of our couples also choose to use their favourite pre-wedding photos for a photo signing book or a canvas to display at the wedding reception. A pre-wedding shoot is also a great way to get photos in a location that may otherwise not be possible on your wedding day (for example, where you proposed, or where you like to hang out).
We’d love to meet you and hear your story.
Tell your unique love story with a custom hand-crafted wedding album.
While having your images in digital format is important for posterity, nothing comes close to the feeling of holding your wedding album in your hands, and reliving the story of your wedding with your family and friends.
We believe in the importance of a wedding album. They tell the story of the biggest day of your lives: not just who was there, but the raw emotions, beauty and rituals that make your story unique. Your wedding album becomes a family heirloom; something that you share with your children and pass on to future generations.
We have two photographers at every wedding. Typically one will go to the groom’s house before the ceremony and one will go to the bride’s to capture some natural moments and family photos at each home before leaving for the ceremony.
Your photos will be ready within four weeks of your wedding. You can access your photos via an easy-to-use password protected online gallery, which is perfect for sharing with family and friends.
A pre-wedding / engagement shoot is a 1-1.5 hour shoot which we do around 3 months before your wedding day. You can do your shoot in a location of your choice (usually something that looks different to where we’re going on the wedding day), and we get some beautiful photos of the two of you. You can dress however you like – smart casual, formal or in cultural clothes. It’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and eliminate any camera nerves. Girls often time their hair and make-up trials for the same day so that can see how they’ll look in professional photos.
Absolutely. We believe that a wedding storybook is an essential part of your wedding story. Every couple receives a book that is unique to them; after your wedding we work with you to create a beautifully designed and custom-made book (proudly made in Australia) that you will be proud to share with your family and friends.

We asked Jay to be our wedding photographer because he was professional, took amazing photos and came across as such a friendly & easy-going guy. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer than Jay who made our day enjoyable and completely stress-free.
Jay shot our Sangeet, Wedding and Reception. We were very impressed with the quality of his photos, and he went out of his way to ensure we got everything that we wanted. It was well worth the money for some of the amazing shots that we have of our events.
Selecting Southern Light to photograph our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. Jay was fantastic - he was professional, friendly and most of all extremely talented. The entire team was easy to work with and the end result was amazing! We can't thank Jay enough for making this such an enjoyable experience.
Southern Light Photography is Jay Valabjee and his small team of talented photographers. They bring their unique style of wedding photography to document beautiful weddings of all cultures, all over Australia.
