When the lights go out… For photographers: Anu and Jay were lit using a combination of speedlite, beauty dish, video light and available (shop window) light.

Shalini and Jithan were married in a traditional Buddhist wedding ceremony in the Utzon room at Sydney’s iconic Opera House. The bridal party were full of energy as we got some beautiful sunset photos at the Royal Botanic Gardens. The guests then settled in for an evening at the elegant Opera Point Marquee, and were treated to some impromptu karaoke by the bridal party, and a very special late-night performance of Shalini and Jithan belting out AC/DC to a rowdy crowd. Photographed by Jay and Sidd. On a blissfully sunny Sydney day, Mitasha and Ivan were wed in an intimate outdoor Hindu wedding ceremony at the scenic Taronga Centre. We’d photographed the wedding of Mitasha’s sister, Kaveeta, in 2009 so it was fun catching up with the family. Following a quick photo session around Taronga Zoo (those giraffes have the best view of Sydney) and a costume change, Ivan and Mitasha celebrated with family and friends against a vivid Sydney sunset. Guests...

In the beginning… In 2007 I photographed my first wedding as Photos by Jay. It was an intimate backyard affair with a marquee and maybe 50 people. The couple were in their 40′s and it was both their second marriages so there was little fuss. It was essentially a Sunday barbecue with style. Despite the apparent simplicity of their wedding, I was terrified. What if I missed the kiss? The rings? What if my camera burst into flame at a critical moment? Of course everything went well...
Read Moree-session – Balmain – Supreet and Luke
On a vibrant Summer day I met Luke and Supreet in Balmain for their e-session (and the first shoot for 2012). They chose a park by the water which featured clear views of the city across the harbour, plenty of greenery and rusty old drums – aka photographer paradise. Resplendent with terrible dad jokes and merciless tickle fights, we basked in the sunshine and shenanigans. Luke and Supreet, we can’t wait to capture your big Sikh wedding at the end of the month! ...

This was one of the most grand, extravagant weddings we’ve ever witnessed. An energetic day filled with lots of love, beauty and even an epic fireworks display followed by a rowdy mini-concert, Sudeep and Shikha were married in a traditional Indian Bengali wedding ceremony at Miramare Gardens. Photographed by Jay, Sidd and Aalok, make up and hair by Fareha at New Look Beauty, video by Icon Film Productions, decorations by VIP Decorating. ...

We’d hoped for a sunny day at Balmoral Beach for Shikha and Sudeep’s e-session, but not long after we started, torrential rain had us scurrying for cover. Heading undercover to Martin Place, we braved the patchy rain and managed to get some beautiful photos. Sudeep and Shikha fall so naturally into each other and were completely unfazed by the weather. Stay tuned for some photos from their epic wedding and reception at Miramare Gardens and Le Montage. ...
Read MoreCrazy, Stupid, Dance Floor.
Photographed by Jay, Aalok and Sidd. The time has come where all the nerves, excitement and emotion of the wedding day have reached a dizzying climax, and all that’s left to do is let it all out and celebrate. In an endorphin (and alcohol) fuelled flurry of arms, legs and champagne flutes, the dance floor lights up with bride, groom, friends and family. Here are some of our favourite recent wedding reception dance floor moments. This post wouldn’t be complete...

Read MoreCurzon Hall Indian Wedding – Amita and Mohit
Photographed by Jay and Anna This was easily one of the most colourful, dancingest, partiest, energetic weddings I’ve ever witnessed. From Amita’s selection of vibrant coloured decor and outfits to Mohit’s dance-loving party crew, this wedding was the perfect way to ring in the Spring season. Following the traditional Hindu ceremony and some beautiful dusk photos around Curzon Hall, Amita and Mo changed outfits for their reception and danced their way into the room. There were...
